RPR’s AMP™ Nominated for Prestigious Innovator Award

The Advanced Multi-List Platform™ (AMP™), a technological initiative that will reimagine the architecture of the modern MLS system, has been nominated for an Inman 2016 Innovator Award.

RPR AMP™ brings MLS technology into the modern era by leveraging the Realtors Property Resource® (RPR®) platform—a nationwide, parcel-centric database comprised of 166 million property records and nearly 1 billion photographs.

AMP™ allows application developers to provide a broad range of products so that MLSs can offer subscribers choice and flexibility in the tools they provide. “Front end of choice” is a concept the real estate industry has been talking about forever; now, with AMP™ it is a reality. Choice opens the database to innovative developers to create applications that are available across all MLSs powered by AMP™. That makes it easy for MLSs to deliver more options to brokers and agents.

AMP™ separates the back-end database, where listing information and data of all kinds are stored, from the front-end user application that an agent or appraiser uses to ask for data (do a search) and do something with the results (prepare a CMA or buyer tour, or set up an automatic client notification of new listings). By separating the front end from the back end, AMP™ makes possible an entirely new generation of software tools that agents can pick and choose from. Until now, such innovations were not being developed because of the historical barriers to entry. With AMP™, developers have a much easier path to market because they write the program one time and it works equally well on all AMP™ powered systems.

“AMP™ has the potential to be a total game-changer,” said Walt Baczkowski, CEO of the San Francisco Association of REALTORS®. “By opening up the MLS database to innovative developers, we look forward to offering a vast array of new tools to our agents, tools that would never have had a chance to come to market without the novel architecture that RPR is building,” he continued. “We are pleased to be one of the initial pilot markets for AMP™.”

“RPR is pleased to have AMP™ chosen as an Innovator Awards finalist by the Inman editorial team,” said Dale Ross, Chief Executive Officer, Realtors Property Resource®. “RPR’s AMP project was created in response to requests from many of its MLS partners across the country to leverage RPR’s robust parcel-centric database to provide advanced technology innovation though the expansion of the open-architecture concept of MLS technology.”

Inman has been drawing attention to industry visionaries who are creating revolutionary products and services since 1997. Over the years, the list of nominees has become a who’s who of tech companies on the verge of breakthroughs poised to have great impact on the real estate industry.
