CEO Update – December 2017

2017 Year-End Wrap-Up

2017 was a year of tremendous growth for RPR. As it closes its eighth year as NAR’s member benefit, we would like to review a few of the highlights. RPR was created in 2009 to develop a national database, exclusive to REALTORS®, at a time when the focus of web-based property data was solely focused on the consumer experience and their access to active listings.

RPR’s mission is to assist REALTORS® in saving money through increased efficiencies, and to help them be more profitable. Success for RPR is measured in how well it delivers best-in-class tools, features and reports to Residential Agents, Commercial Practitioners, Brokers, Appraisers as well as the MLSs and Associations who serve them.

Here are some highlights:

  • RPR now includes 95% of all Active Residential listings in the U.S.
  • More than 100,000 REALTORS® downloaded RPR Mobile in 2017, for a total of over 365,000 total downloads.
  • RPR Broker Tool Sets (BTS) expanded its program for brokerages and franchisors by 62%, adding over 2,500 companies to the program in 2017 alone.
  • Additionally, BTS welcomed RE/MAX International to its list of participating franchisors, adding over 2,000 companies, 3,000 offices and 62,000 REALTORS® to the program.
  • More than 860,000 REALTORS® represented by 406 MLSs, have access to listing data from partnering MLSs, making RPR View™ the real estate industry’s largest data sharing platform.

Additionally, RPR’s Product Development division continued an aggressive schedule in 2017, completing nine separate releases, which marked 67 total releases, since the RPR Platform’s launch in September 2010.

2017 Stand-out enhancements

Within those releases, RPR introduced many new tools and features to increase efficiency for agents and brokers, from solutions like voice-to-text search to the ability to create a CMA right from the REALTOR’S® smartphone. Five new features and enhancements are listed here. Visit the RPR blog for a more comprehensive list.

Comp Analysis “On the Go”

The RPR app was enhanced to include Comp Analysis––a simple, intuitive interface to create an on-the-go CMA using a smartphone or tablet.

Federal Economic Area Reports Gets a Boost

NAR’s quarterly Congressional District Reports on housing trends can now be inserted into RPR Economic Area Reports, which offer insight into the demographics, consumer behavior and economic activity of a congressional district or state.

Tenant Data

A recent integration adds commercial data on more than seven million tenants, such as name, suite number, move-in date, type of business, and business start date. Tenant information can also be added or edited. The data can be found on Commercial Property Reports as well as printed as a stand-alone report.

Traffic Count Data

This year, RPR began offering the industry’s most current traffic measurement product to its website and app with 24-hour average daily traffic counts for highways and roads throughout the United States.

Custom Pages for Reports

Now REALTORS® can add custom pages into the reports they create in RPR, an excellent way to showcase biographies, testimonials, additional statistics, and even specific marketing methods used to attract new business. In addition, Broker Tool Set enrollees have the option to include custom pages for agents to use as well.

NAR guides agents after Xceligent shutdown

In mid-December, Xceligent Inc. announced that it is ceasing operations and filing for Chapter 7 bankruptcy surprising thousands of commercial real estate practitioners who subscribed to the service. Many commercial practitioners have been turning to RPR and asking how the platform can assist them now that Xceligent is no more.

RPR Commercial has data on more than 35 million off-market properties, 320,000 listed properties, and 106,000 leasing opportunities. Emily Line, vice president of commercial services for RPR, says that because RPR Commercial never integrated active listings from Xceligent, the listing count within RPR is unaffected by the bankruptcy. RPR’s data is provided through contracts with 26 CIEs and CMLSs and 668 MLSs. The data includes:

  • Building ownership
  • Property specifications
  • Tax records
  • Mortgage information
  • Legal descriptions

In addition, RPR now includes information on more than 7 million commercial tenants through an integration with SMR Research. A recent article from RPR on the Top Data Needs for Researching Commercial Properties provides information on the tools and additional datasets available through RPR Commercial.

As members of the National Association of REALTORS® , you have existing technology with data and analytics that may meet your practical commercial transaction needs. RPR is committed to continued enhancement of its commercial product delivery, ensuring the REALTOR® position in the marketplace.

IRES and Pikes Peak announce datashare through RPR View

Information Real Estate Services LLC (IRES) in a joint statement with the Pikes Peak Association of REALTORS® (PPAR) announced RPR View as the data-sharing solution between PPAR and IRES LLC.

“PPAR is delighted to collaborate with IRES LLC and provide the best service to our REALTOR® members and their clients,” said Amy Reid, PPAR CEO. “RPR View makes it easy for MLSs to provide the ability to access local and regional listing data to REALTOR® subscribers of other MLSs, or to all REALTOR® members nationally.”

REALTOR® Spotlight

As we wrap up 2017, we would like to take a look at the amazing REALTORS® we have met throughout the year. In December, RPR published 10 of our favorite stories which shared practical and compelling strategies for leveraging the RPR Platform. REALTORS® like Paul Lundquist (Winona, Minnesota) who uses RPR to stay relevant in the golden age of the customer; Jickson Chacko (Denver, Colorado) who says the RPR app is the perfect icebreaker for sharing data such as the Realtor Valuation Model® (RVM® ) and Kyle Else (Palo Alto, California) who creates in-depth analyses using list vs. sale price datasets, plus other real-time market activity to make relocating clients aware of the type of bidding wars happening in Silicon Valley. Many of these REALTOR® stories highlight the different applications in RPR that continue to assist the REALTOR® in making money and saving money using RPR.

Best wishes for a successful 2018.
