RPR was officially launched on September 16, 2010 to REALTORS® in multiple markets across the country. The first markets to go live with the RPR database were comprised of early adopter MLSs, as well as MLSs who had participated in Beta testing of the RPR system. As of 1/31/12 RPR has executed agreements with more than 370 MLSs, representing over 610,000 REALTORS®. RPR has identified two methods of member level delivery, one for MLS partners, and coming in 2012, an additional partner strategy for Associations:
MLS Partners:
Early in the process, RPR identified the necessity to create a strategy of phased geographic roll-out to NAR’s 1,000,000+ members. The reason for this phased geographic roll-out is that prior to launch, a significant process is required to incorporate MLS data into the system, and RPR spends months in partnership with the MLSs coordinating communications, training and support systems to create the highest benefit of their members. In addition to the coordination with the MLSs, RPR has contracted with a third party, U.S. based Customer Care Center to provide 365 day/24-7 phone, e-mail and live chat support for all RPR users.
To launch RPR to REALTORS® in an MLS area, the process starts with the execution of the RPR Content License Agreement (CLA), the document that authorizes RPR to incorporate localized active and off market MLS data for the authorized users of the RPR system, and defines how RPR can use the data licensed to us by the MLS. Once we have our agreement in place, we work with the MLS to get access to their data, and begin the process of “mapping” the data, which lets us put the right fields from the MLSs into the right places in RPR. We also get a download of all photos and off market data so we can begin to build our history files. Generally, this process takes about six weeks. Once we have completed the mapping process, we’re ready to contact the MLS and discuss possible launch dates.
RPR has structured its launch calendar in order to manage the number of new REALTORS® logins activated each week to a maximum of 50,000 new users. RPR also has the capability to launch as many as individual 15 MLSs per week, regardless of number of REALTOR® members. By controlling these numbers, we’re able to ensure that our Customer Care Center is ready for the increased call volume, and we that can provide the excellent service and support tour members deserve. We also work closely with MLS staff for months prior to launch in order to work through all the MLS options and decisions, such as;
- Single sign on options and processes
- Data share and processes
- MLS Co-branded options and processes.
MLS staff is also introduced to all of our training and communications materials, including emails, videos, articles, and background documents. And, of course, we and the MLS staff test the system thoroughly. Early in these discussions we agree on a target launch date.
As these robust support features are implemented, RPR is made available to the REALTOR® members of each MLS market area. While this strategy has the initial function of limiting access to RPR to only those REALTORS® who are subscriber participants in partnering MLSs, it also provides the highest value to those members. Users in launched areas not only get the benefit of the RPR support systems, but also have their local active and off-market data integrated with the RPR nationwide datasets, creating the most accurate analytics and valuations for each of property in their market.
Association Partners
RPR’s core mission is to deliver the RPR application to all REALTORS® throughout the country. In Q2 2012 RPR will begin identifying Associations to partner on a pilot program for Association launch to REALTORs® in market areas who are not represented by MLS contract relationships described above. The RPR application has tremendous value to NAR members, even with the exclusion of local market data. However, the necessity to have a local partner to assist in the delivery of pre-launch training and communication, customer support systems, and post launch training and marketing support, is a key factor to delivering value to our members. Association who wish to partner in RPR delivery to their members will be able to contact their regional Market Manger for more details, and be placed into our launch queue along with the pending launches for MLSs and Associations throughout the country. Look for upcoming news and information about RPR’s Association outreach as 2012 unfolds.
How to find out the status of your market
The MLS Partners map has been updated to provide you more information on exactly when you will have access to RPR. Those MLSs already launched appear as a red pin on the map. If you are a member of one of those MLSs and have a valid NRDS ID and MLS ID, you can log on right now! MLSs represented with blue pins have signed agreements and scheduled launch dates. Yellow pins represent signed agreements that do not have a launch date set either because we’re still mapping data or haven’t yet been able to zero in on a date with MLS staff.
If you don’t see your MLS anywhere on the map, send an email to info@narrpr.com, and our Industry Relations team will get back to you with any information on the status of our discussions in that market. Additional information on Association launches will be added as they are added beginning in Q2 2012.

We need it now, but will it make a difference with the banks in control?
[...] REALTOR® population. I suppose it goes without saying, we’re excited to have entered this new phase. Which leads me directly into today’s announcement. This morning we delivered a new batch of [...]
This rollout schedule brings up a question that several of my customers have asked – why can’t I at least get access to the public records side of RPR now rather than wait for the MLS data to be loaded? As Realtors they have already paid for this service (remember the dues increase that began 3 years ago?). It is almost as if access is being denied in order to force MLSs to sign up with RPR.
Hi Russ – Our rollout plan has always been a phased one, to allow us time to refine our support and training processes and resources to assure we can provide excellent service to new REALTORS as they sign up for RPR. We are not, at this moment, prepared to support 1.1 million users. We expect to have about half of the membership accessing RPR by year end, and the balance over the course of next year. We will ramp up our support organization at the same rate.
Reggie – I’m looking forward to the rollout of RPR in Jacksonville next month.
FOR REALTORS ONLY?
To quote from the September 21, 2010 RPR Blog ™, “As we complete the MLS data integration into RPR, we launch the RPR to REALTOR® members of that MLS. A NRDS ID and MLS ID from an MLS active in RPR are required to log into RPR.”
So all you need to get a NRDS ID? Look at the cover of any Realtor magazine. The MLS ID? Everybody has your MLS ID.
1. What kind of security is that against banks and the general public gaining access to our “Realtors only” RPR website?
2. If accurate sold data is available to lending institutions through Realtors or by hacking, how can NAR hope to sell this data?
3. How can any website with over a million user names and passwords NOT become available to everyone who wants to get in? It will happen within a matter of days or weeks?
Banks are taking it in the shorts these days, and they would love to save Realtor and appraiser fees. Remember when they needed us to establish a market value and sell the REO property? Once they have our “off market” data (sold prices, days on market and agents involved) they will further marginalize us Realtors and appraisers. If we think we stopped the banks last time, just wait until RPR goes live with data from YOUR area. If NAR thinks they can sell data that people can get for free, they’ve got another think coming.
Hi Brian – Thanlks for your comment. Here are the security measures we use with RPR:
(1) We strong authenticate against a valid NRDS Id, without which it is not possible to access the system.
(2)Next, a valid AgentId is authenticated each time you log in. Without it you can see neither listing content nor RVMs.
(3) We use Clareity Scout to detect and block account sharing.
(4)There is no functionality in the Website that allows the content to be downloaded (except as a PDF report).
(5)We follow all best practices in our data center for intrusion detection, IP spoofing, DoS, and other attacks.
All REALTORS share a common interest in keeping the practitioner in the center of a real estate transaction. NAR reflects this interest in its efforts when addressing Banks and other institutions. Unlike our competitors, RPR does not resell any raw data to the banks.
Since today’s AVMs present a challenge to our industry, we as REALTORS need to become part of the solution by offering a superior AVM (the new RVM) to reduce market friction and ultimately improve liquidity. This is the ambition behind selling the RVM to lending institutions.
Is the Greater Ft Myers & The Beach Board of Realtors looking into this for our MLS?
Thanks
Bonnie Miller
Hi Bonnie,
I have emailed Sharon Jenkins at our board to see what is going on with Fort Myers. I will let you know what I find out.
Thanks,
Darla
I would like a copy of the licensing agreement to review with my Board. Lots of suspicion and inuendo connected to this. Let’s just review it now to put those to rest.
It doesn’t look like any association is in the system where I work. MRIS..maybe next year?
Hi Reggie,
Has My Florida Regional MLS applied and/or scheduled to come on board. Been reading and waiting for this.
How does the MLS which is hosting the RPR product obtain daily or weekly user login AND Scout reports ?
Why aren’t login pages branded with the SCOUT logo to show users their information is secure and that a third level authentication system is being used to protect login information?
On that note, why aren’t you utilizing an extended validation certificate to show users their login information is “encrypted” on a basic level?
EV Certs don’t encrypt any better but they make the customer feel better and more secure. EV certs DO have a company vetting process (you are who you say you are) and instant visual notification that your information you are using is secure…
Does it cost money for the mls to participate? How much?
Hello Allyson – No, it does not cost to participate. This is 100% a NAR member benefit.
The best
100% a NAR
Hi Reggie,
My MLS doesn’t appear when I add my NRDS. Does this mean I cant join, because the next step in signing up is disallowed with correct MLS info?
Hi Sue,
Let me look into this for you! What is the name of your MLS?
I am with both the HPRAR (High Point Regional Association of Realtors) & CCAR (Coastal Carolina Association of Realtors) and neither one shows access to RPR as of yet. Can you tell me an estimated timeline on this please?
Buyers and Sellers are both confused in todays Real Estate market….
Buyers are holding out….Deals are passing them by….?

Hi Reggie,
I attempted to send a request for information for our MLS at the address listed (info@narrpr.com) however there was no “send” button so my message didn’t go! Our MLS is not registered and I am trying to get the information for our next meeting!
I’m sorry about that! Was this in your email client?
Has any contact been made to NJMLS and/or Hudson MLS (http://www.mlsguide.com/)?
Would like to join
I just returned from an orientation class on RPR and tried to login, only to find that for some reason the state of TN is not in the dropdown menu. Pls advise how I overcome this strategic lapse to complete my registration.
Nice tools! Thanks.
yes
Texas isn’t in drop down menu either, at least not when I’ve tried to register using my iPad. I did not try to do it with PC yet.
Rick, What MLS are you with? I’ll touch base with Andrea Gordon the Market Manager for your area and get you an update.
What is the schedule for bringing MetroTex Association of Realtors (Dallas/Fort Worth) on-line with RPR?
Hi Randy, I’ll touch base with the market manager for your area and reply back with an update.
